ABOUT ME

I have always had a love for animals.  My first experience with birds was a little conure in my 7th grade science classroom.  I was fascinated by him, but I was hooked by another little conure that shared our break room, and consequently my lunch, while it was boarding.  Two years later, my (now) husband bought our first two birds – Oscar my “sunnie”, and Rudy, his green cheek conure.  And we were off!

Over the years we have had a variety of birds.  From finches and canaries, to diamond and ringneck doves.  We even had a toucan, a collared aracaris, named Igor.

I purchased my first scarlet, Petri, in 2009 from a pet store.  I was captivated by his colors and sweet, quiet personality.  In 2012 Petri, and his mate Peaches, hatched their first clutch (and mine!) in June and a second clutch in October.  I was so excited!

While waiting for my first clutch, I purchased my first pair of mutations.  I followed their purchase with another 2 pairs.

If you are wondering about the rest of our furred, feathered and finned family…. We currently have in the feathered department the scarlets, and Pickles, our perfect lorikeet (I swear she is ADHD, and it does not help that her diet is 100% sugar!).  Our furred family members include 5 very spoiled cats and our Great Dane, Duke.  And our finned family is currently a work in progress as we set up our second salt water aquarium.

In my spare time I am a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and my husband is a Mason.  He volunteers with our local firehall as a social member.  I am a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and my husband is an active member of the Boy Scouts.  We are both members of the NRA and I am a proud member of the National Wild Turkey Federation through the Women in the Outdoors.  We maintain our property for the conservation and benefit of our wildlife.

In August 2012 we welcomed into our family our first child, our son Marcus!  It has been such an exciting year and we look forward to the years to come.
